Biography

Prof. Rashid served as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka from (December 2003 to October 2010) as well as the Acting Dean from November 25, 2011 to March 12, 2011 and General Secretary of Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society (BPS) from 2002-2009 and as a member of Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (2005-2010). In addition he also served as the Chairman of Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka from April 14, 209 to April 23, 2012.

Research Interest

1. Isolation and characterization of bio-active compounds from medicinal plants, microbes and marine animals. 2. Application of modern NMR techniques to structural elucidation of organic molecules, with special emphasis to marine peptides and macrolides. 3. Synthesis of chemically unique and biologically interesting compounds and evaluation of their pharmacological activities. 4. In addition to the main stream research, my research interests are also extended to other aspects of natural product chemistry, evaluation of traditionally used medicines and their source
